Barras successful Sydney road trip

We have just returned from an exhausting National League road trip and managed to put 4 wins from 4 games on the board.  We played at the iconic Dawn Fraser Baths in Balmain - a tidal pool in Sydney Harbour.

Here is a Water Polo Australia post-match interview after we played Drummoyne Devils on Thursday night on You Tube

And a radio interview on BayFM I did on Saturday speaking about the previous nights game against Balmain on Spreaker

AND she's back... to National League at least

So 2013 was a very quiet year for me in regards to water polo, recovering from a shoulder reconstruction and a staph infection, but thats (almost) all behind me now.  I am back into full training... that is stuggling through full training, and can't wait to get back into competition - it's been 16 months since I have played, and that was back in Brasil.

The 2014 National Water Polo League is celebrating its 25th year, and has announced the Finals Series will be held in Brisbane!  The last time it was in Brisbane was 2005, so it's been a long wait.  Newspaper artcile feature below

My club, the Brisbane Barracudas will be looking to gain our 5th National League title, but it's going to take alot of hard work.  The season has just commenced, but we are easing back into it with a bye in the first round.

I will keep you posted throughout the season. Goooo Barras!

East Timor in the spotlight

Last year I passionately wrote about my trip to Timor-Leste volunteering under the guise of Rotary International.  I learned a lot about the history and hardships of the Timorese, and since then have paid very close attention to the goings-on of our closest neighbour.

It makes for pretty deep reading, and a broader understanding is required, but here is a good article that provides some background on how Australia has screwed Timor-Leste

Lovin' Summer and lovin' Christmas

I love this time of year, and especially in the Southern Hemisphere because it means BEACH TIME!!! This time last year I was in Brasil playing for Pinheiros at the Brasilian National Championships...was able to squeeze in some Brasilian beach time there :) But that was the end of beach fun for me, as the morning I arrived home I went straight to hospital to get my dreaded shoulder reconstruction.  Well almost 12 months later the shoulder is coming along...slowly...but I can enjoy a beachy Christmas!!! And I'm so excited to be beaching in (and gifting for Chrissy) Aquadiva's!!!! The lovely ladies at the Gold Coast have been working hard to get some fantastic Christmas pressie's - it's not just a swimwear store - kaftans, hats, towels just to name a few :) I can't wait to get my hands on the "flutter" print. Enjoy browsing!!
